Interclub Quiz - 28th October
On Wednesday On Wednesday 28th October 4 BBMC members made there way to pit their IQ against members of Clwyd Vale, Rhyl & District, North Wales Car Club and Bala & District at the Pwll Gwyn, Afonwen, for the Interclub Quiz. The saw a total a 8 teams pitting their wits against each other to claim the quiz champions tankard. The quiz was run in a knock-out style bases, so BBMC members, Simon Rogers, Rich Bestwick, Ian Lloyd and Adam Smith, knew they needed a good start to make it though to the next round. The team drew NWCC club in the first round, who were the favourites for the win. After some stiff quetions on Motorsport and General Knowledge, BBMC lost to NWCC in the first round 7-6. Team Captain Simon Rogers said after the event, "I knew it was going to be tough when we drew NWCC as there secret weapon Dave Thomas is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to knowing local Motorsport knowledge. It close but maybe next year we might get to the semis. We had no trouble getting the answers right in the semi finals pitty we were knock out. A big thank you to Pat and the rest of the Clwyd Vale Team for organising the event."

RIP - Chris Webber
Its with my deepest condolence, I have to announce the sudden death of Broughton-Bretton member, Chris Webber. Chris past away suddenly on Thursday 8th January. Chris was a valued member of Broughton - Bretton MC, whether he was helping with the organising of the clubs Firefly Road Rally or being the hilarious Broughton Bretton Awards Night Host, Chris was a key member of the team. He was also a very keen, skilled and successful Navigator. Whether it be down the lanes on a road rally with a wide range of drivers including BBMC chairman Howard Price or in the forests with the Firefly Road Rally Sponsor Chris Nixon doing events like the Cambrian, where the pair won their class on the recent 2008 event. Chris was a loving husband to Shelly and a fantastic father to Mike, Justin, Jamie and Rachel. He will be sadly missed by all on the rallying scene. If you were ever feeling down you could always relay on Chris to cheer you up.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Shelly, Mike, Justin, Jamie and Rachel at this most difficult time.
Keep on rallying in the skies my friend. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten!
Chris' funeral will be held at St Ethelwolds Church, Chester Road, Shotton, CH5 1QD at 10.30am on the 28th January 2009

Mr D. Elwyn Lloyd - Born 01/03/1942 - Died 24/03/2008
It
is regret that we have to report the death of one of our longest serving members
15 months after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Elwyn joined the club in
the mid 1960’s and became a committee member in August 1967 and remained so
until his passing.
After
leaving school Elwyn became an apprentice mechanic at Quicks of Ellesmere Port
working up to Foreman before leaving to join Baz Smith as partner in Jocar Self
Drive Hire. In his latter years Elwyn was a key member of Buckley Tyres staff,
as most of our younger members will remember him,
always willing to help any member who required to call on his expert
mechanical knowledge.
Elwyn
had competed in numerous local Road Rallies in the 1970’s always driving one
of his immaculately prepared Fords.
He also represented North Wales in Autotests and anybody who saw him drive his
Ford Corsair around bollards witnessed a truly magnificent feat.
Last
year he came out of retirement and finished second overall on the Jack Romain
Novice Rally.
He
will be sadly missed by his many friends.
The funeral will take place on Thursday 3rd April at 1.30pm in Penyfford Chapel followed by a service at 2.30pm at Pentre Bychan Crematorium. The family would like to thank all the members who have written to them at this sad time.
